Yumi Schaefer
Yumi Schaefer is a qualified dance-movement therapist. She has worked with a wide range of client groups for many years. She has specialized in using creative arts- dance and music- for people with special needs. She also lectures at Wesley Institute in Sydney on a course on Disability and Dance Therapy. She founded and has directed the Sydney Dance Therapy Forum since November 2004.
Her work experience includes people with a disability, the elderly and people with multi-cultural background. Now she is expanding her work with children and parents as she nurtures her own baby, Jasmin with dance and music.
Her work ethos is "As You Move, You Discover the Power in You." She works from the belief that moving our bodies in creative and expressive ways in a non-threatening and safe environment brings about healing and empowerment within. She enjoys seeing the emotional and physical freedom her work brings to all types of people.
She is a qualified Pilates instructor and a health educator as well. She combines fitness/health teaching and creative arts effectively to achieve wellness and optimal health.
